So, heard the latest about China rolling out their immersion DUV lithography machines? First units hitting SMIC, Hua Hong, and CXMT this year. Man, this feels like a real game-changer. State-backed company in Shanghai, huh? Always wondered how they’d crack the DUV tech, but looks like they’re pulling it off.
Quick question: How do y’all think this impacts the global chip race? If China’s catching up, does that mean more competition for companies like TSMC or ASML? Or is it a win for the whole industry?
Also, what’s the deal with DUV vs EUV? I know EUV is the future, but DUV’s cheaper to produce. Does this mean China’s prioritizing cost over speed? Or is it a stepping stone?
For us Malaysians, does this mean better access to affordable semis for local manufacturers? Maybe even some homelab upgrades? Or is it just another step in the global tech arms race?
Thoughts? Let’s debate!
