Bro, just read that Seagate is about to drop 50TB HDDs by 2027. HAMR tech, right? Feels like we’re stepping into the next era of storage. AI and gaming are eating up space, so this might be the solution for those of us with homelabs and NAS setups.

Wait, but the article says most drives are sold out till 2028? That’s wild. How’s the demand even this high? Maybe because SSDs are still pricey for the average user. But with HAMR, we could finally have affordable terabytes without sacrificing speed.

What’s your take? Will this be the next big thing, or just another hype cycle? Also, how do you think HAMR compares to SSDs for everyday use? Sifu, any thoughts on whether this’ll make a dent in the Malaysian market?
