So, Telegram got yanked from the App Store over a CSAM incident. Pavel Durov says some hacker planted that stuff to extort Apple. Hmm, what's the real story here?

I mean, Apple's policies are strict, but how do they even *know* it's CSAM? If it's a false flag, it's a huge loophole. But if it's real, then Telegram's security is way off. Either way, it's a mess.

What do you think? Is Apple being too trigger-happy, or is Telegram's encryption a double-edged sword? Also, how do we balance safety vs. free speech here?

REPLY 1:
Honestly, it's a bit of both. Apple’s system is automated, so false positives happen. But if Telegram’s encryption hides harmful stuff, they’re complicit. Should they scan for CSAM? It’s a privacy vs. safety dilemma.

REPLY 2:
Wait, but Telegram’s encryption is end-to-end. How does Apple even detect CSAM in encrypted chats? Unless the hacker sent it *unencrypted* in a public chat. That’s sketchy. Maybe it’s a smokescreen?

REPLY 3:
This feels like a PR stunt. Apple’s already got their reasons. But if Telegram’s security is so bad, why did they get back on the App Store so fast? Maybe the hack was a bluff.

REPLY 4:
For us homelabbers, this highlights the risks of encrypted services. If you can’t scan for abuse, you’re leaving doors open. But without encryption, privacy dies. It’s a tough spot.

REPLY 5:
What’s the AI angle here? Can AI tools flag CSAM without breaking encryption? Or is it a lost cause? Maybe Telegram should partner with AI moderation instead of relying on zero-knowledge.

REPLY 6:
Also, how many other apps are in the same boat? If Apple’s policies are too strict, it’s a problem for all developers. But if they’re too lenient, it’s a safety risk. Balance is key, but it’s not easy.

REPLY 7:
I’m curious if Malaysia’s local app stores have similar issues. Our users might face the same dilemma. But maybe local laws are stricter? Not sure.

REPLY 8:
Either way, this shows how fragile the App Store ecosystem is. One false flag and you’re out. Developers need more transparency from Apple. But I guess that’s the cost of doing business.
